Welcome to our 2012 summer cycle tour blog!Posted: June 28, 2012
Yes, we believe in recycling… even blogs. We thought we’d use our Xercise Files Blog and just rename it for our 5 week summer cycling tour – Rocky Mountain Way. Check back often to see what we’re up to.
We don’t start the tour until July the 24th but we thought we’d give you a heads up and a maybe a little history about our passion for cycling.
What’s the attraction with cycle touring anyway?
If you’re fortunate enough to be able to ride a bike and you like to travel to new places, you should REALLY consider the massive positive impact cycle touring can have on your life and your health. To put it mildly, we’re addicted to the whole thing. This didn’t happen overnight but rather over a few years. Short day trips led to extended trips on BC’s Kettle Valley Railway and then it got more serious… Cycle thousands of kilometres? One pedal at a time, it’s one of the most rewarding experiences you can have. The sense of accomplishment to actually DO something about that nagging Wanderlust; the feeling of euphoria from the happy hormones bouncing around inside you; and the connection to the earth around you. Never mind putting on fancy glasses to experience nature in 3D – it’s here waiting for you – on your bicycle.
How did we get started? Check out this old posting on Crazyguyonabike. Somewhat out of date, the story is still engaging… we think. If you have the time, have a look – there’ some http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=1&doc_id=3214&v=22
